I'm a marketer. I market, therefore I am. Marketing is viewed with such suspicion... perhaps rightly so, as there are marketers out there that exist purely to make money, whatever the consequences.
But marketing is - or should be - about finding ways to make customers happy. It's as simple as that. And one of the pleasant side effects of having happy customers is that they will give you money to continue finding ways to make them happy. You're happy, they're happy - everyone is happy. I'll never be a millionaire, but I'll always have a smile on my face.
OK, so maybe I'm the eternal optimist; it's no coincidence that my logo contains a smily face (she's called 'happygirl' - she's a self portrait, which I based on an unakuzin doll). Perhaps that's why I'm drawn to marketing; I can put a positive spin on just about anything!
But don't let that fool you into thinking that I deal in untruths. My brand of marketing is based on efficiency, thoroughness, and most importantly honesty and transparency; I don't invent happy scenarios - I help people see the positives that already exist.
Something that drives me mad in marketing is the use of 'inspirational' quotes that only exist to make the marketer look cleverer than they really are. If you ever catch me using poncey quotes, you have my permission to slap me. I'd much rather say "wherever you go, that's where y'are" (The Brady Bunch Movie) or "be excellent to each other" (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures) - these quotes are far more inspirational (and true) than anything some overpaid 'guru' will ever tell you.
But anyway, enough about me... what about you?
